About Joseph Hopkins, Jr.

He was a long time resident of the part of Scituate which became the town of Foster, RI in 1781. He bought and sold a considerable amount of land during his life.

1733, November 23- His father deeded him as a gift "a part of his homestead farm." Thirty-eight acres of this land was situated on the western side of Round Hill River, being the northern part of the Senior Hopkins' homestead. Another 3 acres was situated on the western side of the brook that ran through Round Hill Meadow. This land was at or near Round Hill, which later came under the Town of Foster, RI when it was set off from Scituate in 1781.

1740, September 1- His younger brother Jonah Hopkins appeared at a meeting of the Scituate, RI Town Council when the probate of his father's will was acted upon, and informed the Council that he was about 16 years of age and had chosen his brother Joseph, Jr. as his guardian, whereupon he was appointed.
