Joseph Romano was born on September 27, 1864 in Altavilla Milicia, Palermo, Sicilia, Italy. His parents were Ignazio Romano and Carmela Aiello. He was a Contadino [Peasant Farmer], 1886; Street Sweeper.

Joseph married Caterina Lo Cascio on June 3, 1886 in Altavilla Milicia, Palermo, Sicilia, Italy. Together they had the following children: Ignazio Romano; Carmela Romano; Carmella Rizzo (Romano); Mariano Romano; Maria Laureta Romano.

The details of his immigration to the USA are not known. The US Federal Census in 1900 states he immigrated in 1890, however his son Mariano was born in Sicily on September 1, 1891. A baby delivered at 40 weeks on that date would have an estimated conception date of December 9, 1890. He certainly was in the US prior to his wife and daughter's arrival in the US on April 22, 1898 on the SS Neustria.

In 1900, Giuseppe Romano was living at 82 Gault Court in Chicago with his wife, daughter and other extended family. His occupation was listed as Railroad Laborer

Joseph married Angela Romano (Papaserio). Together they had the following children: Ignatius Romano; Carmen Nello Romano; Joseph Romano; Anne Cirone (Romano); NN Romano.

He died on June 9, 1934 in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois, United States and was buried on June 13, 1934 in Mount Carmel Cemetery, Hillside, Cook County, Illinois, United States.
