About Joseph Royall, IV

Joseph Royal III, son of Joseph Royal II and Katherine Banks, married twice, the second wife being the widow Mary Archer. Therefore, Joseph Royal IV is the son of Joseph Royall III and Mary Royall, the former widow Archer. He is NOT the son of Joseph Royall and Mary Eppes Hardeman.

There is NO proof that Joseph Royall married Mary Eppes Hardeman.

Joseph Royall was a Virginia colonist.

Joseph Royall, son of Joseph and Mary Royall, was probably born after 1678 in Charles City County, where his grandfather founded Doghams Plantation.[1]

Joseph Royall married Elizabeth Kennon in December 1698 in Henrico County, Virginia, at St John's Church.[2]

Children (named in Joseph's 1747 will):

  1. Mary Royall, married before 1747/8 (named Mary Farrar in her father's will)
  2. Richard Royall (21 or older in 1747/8 - named executor of 1747/8 will)
  3. Joseph Royall (born before 1747/8 - named in grandfather's will)
  4. William Royall (died before 1747/8)
  5. Elizabeth Royall (born before 1747/8 - named in grandfather's will)

  8. Joseph Royall (born before 1747/8 - named in grandfather's will)
  9. Elizabeth Royall, married before 1747/8 (named Elizabeth Archer in her father's will)

Joseph wrote his will on 26 February 1747/48; it was proved "the first Monday in April 1748".[3]

Joseph probably died in Henrico County, Virginia in March 1748 (between when he wrote his will and when it was proved).
