Josiah Gordon Bailey

Josiah Gordon Bailey, son of Joseph Bailey and Anna (Gordon) Rand Bailey, was born June 18, 1815 in Hillsborough, New Hampshire; m. CATHARINE BARNES, of Hillsborough in 1838; resided in Hillsborough some years, at the Hillsborough/Washington town line, but now res. in Delavan, Illinois. All children but last born in Hillsborough.

Children were: Jerome B. (b Hillsborough 1839), Henry A. (b. Hillsborough 1842), Emma J. (b. Hillsborough 1847), and Jennie G. (b. Atlanta, Ill. 1864).

• 1850 census: Josiah G. Bailey (34, b NH) and wife Catharine Bailey (29, b NH); in Washington NH w ch. Jerome (11, b NH), Henry (8, b NH), and Emily (5, b NH). Also there is young farm hand Calvin Centice (15) and Josiah's father Joseph Bailey (78, b Mass). Both Josiah and his father are farmers.
• 1870 census: Josiah G. Bailey (53, b NH) and wife Catherine (50, b NH); in Allen's Grove, Mason Co., Ill. With them are their son Henry A. Bailey (28, b NH) and his wife Letitia (21, b Ill) and their son Daniel (6m, b Ill). Son Henry is a farmer.
