Julius von BOECKMANN's former occupations were as a Wheelwright, and later Farmer. South Australian shipping records reveal that Julius, his wife and a child arrived by the ship "Ocean" 1849. It could be presumed that the child died soon after their arrival and was not recorded, because Emilie (born South Australia 20 December 1850) was the first birth or death recorded in the South Australian Indexes. There was no mention of this child on the early Australian Lutheran records in the Lutheran Archives.

Sometimes only a leasehold agreement was possible for available land, as many owners did not want to sell the freehold of their land. Julius and his brother did not purchase or lease land together, but often in partnership with others. 1852- Julius Von BOECKMANN -Lot 1708 Sandy Creek. Enclosed & cultivated land & cottage.
