Details of deportation and subsequent death courtesy of:

Karl & Hilde SPIER were in the region of Nice, Côte d'Azur, where they were rounded up in the notorious "Rafles d'août" in August 1942. The arrested Jewish citizens were incarcerated in the Caserne Auvare for a while before being put on a goods train, in locked-up wagons, and transferred to Drancy.

NOTE
Bundesarchiv Gedenkbuch contains these two entries:
- Spier Karl Carl Ludwig 15.12.1900 Köln
- Spier Carl 15.12.1900 Köln
Both are shown as deported to Auschwitz 02.09.1942.
We make the assumption that the entries are duplicated.
