About Kathleen Burrus
Biography
https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Woodward-1970
Kathleen Woodward was born around 1650 in Jamestown, James City County, English colonial Virginia. Her father was William Woodward and her mother's name is Unknown. William Woodward was a translator to the Indian Queen Pamunkey in what became New Kent County, Virginia. He also was an early English landowner there.[1]
In about 1671, Kathleen Woodward married John B. Burris, (aka Burrows, Burrus) in James City County, Virginia. They had 3 sons:[2]
- Thomas Burris, b: 1672, Burrows Hill, James City Co., Virginia
- Edmund Burris, b: 1676, Burrows Hill, James City Co., Virginia
- Jacob Burrus, b: 1685, Burrows Hill, James City Co., Virginia
In 1689 the Burris family sold their Burrows Hill plantation and moved across the James River from Burrows Hill, founding a plantation that was in King William County by 1703 and Caroline County in 1724. [3]
No exact death date for Kathleen Woodward has been found. She died shortly after the April 1703 death of her husband in King William County, colonial Virginia. At least one source says that her brother or father, William Woodward, also died in about 1705. Memorial no longer on Find A Grave site as of August, 2019.

- Jerri's Ashes Genealogy on RootsWeb - John Burrus Jr. States he died in 1705 and gives her a birth date of ca. 1630 - this is too early as her last son, Jacob, was born in 1685. Also, a wedding date of 1670-71 is more likely than 1650, as all of their 3 sons were born after 1671. Note by Chet Snow, Jan. 31, 2015; amended July 4, 2016.

- Woodard Family Tree - Christopher Woodward of Virginia. Well-researched genealogy of this Virginia pioneer and family. Fails to tie in William Woodward as one of Christopher Woodward's sons but leaves open the possibility in the absence of existing civil records. While not mentioned, Kathleen Woodward was most-likely either William Woodward's daughter or his younger sister (with Christopher their father. She named one of her sons "Christopher").
- Memorial no longer on Find A Grave site as of August, 2019. . Repeats all the same 1630 birth year etc. data for his wife, that I reject as unproven and unlikely. Not a primary source. Unfortunately, this entire series of Find A Grave Memorials repeats old, unproven data that recent scholarship considers inaccurate.
