Prior to WW2, he took classes in aircraft design, maintenance, and electrical systems at the Boeing School of Aeronautics at Moffett Field (near Mountain View, in the South S.F Bay Area) and became an aircraft electrician. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps 1942-1945, 78th Service Squadron. Sgt. (Mechanic) 2 and half years at Natal (Rio Grande del Norte), Brazil. Later he obtained a pilot's license and qualified as a commercial instructor of single and multi-engine land planes.
The 1940 Census simply listed him as a bank clerk.
As per the 1950 Census he was a treasurer at the local city hall.
