Mrs. Lars Jacobson (Krist Paulson Tobe) was born in Hol Hallingdal, Norway on November 3, 1855. She was the daughter of Tollef and Guro Paulson. In the year 1861 Mr. and Mrs. Paulson with their children, Sigri, Paul, Ole, Kristi and Assor left their home in Norway. They came to Turkey River in Clayton county, Iowa, where they lived for two years. Soon after coming to Turkey river, the youngest child Assor died. Another child, Sessel, was born while the family lived at this place.

In 1863 Mr. and Mrs. Paulson came to Emmet county and made their home with Mr. Paulson's brother, Lars, who was the father of Mrs. T.O. Berg. Lars Paulson lived on the place which is now the county farm.

One year later they purchased the farm west of the county farm and this was the home of the Paulsons until their death. Guro passing away in 1889 and Tollef in 1894.

Their first home was built of sod and logs, later they built the log house which is still standing.

In 1865 another daughter, Andrina was born. Upon their arrival in Emmet county the Paulsons became members of the Norwegian Lutheran church, October 6, 1880, and he and his wife have been faithful members of the congregation since that time and to date have been the oldest couple in the congregation.

Kristi Paulson was confirmed September 27, 1871. Rev. T.H. Dahl was at that time serving the congregation. April 2, 1879, Kristi Paulson was married to Lars Jacobson whose boyhood home was in Perry, Wisconsin. The ceremony was performed by Rev. M.C. Holseth at her home. Of the guests present at the wedding only one is living, namely Mrs. H.K. Groth of St. Paul, a cousin, of the bride. Upon their marriage they moved to the farm four miles south of Estherville, which Mr. Jacobson had acquired some years earlier.

Lars Jacobson joined the Estherville Lutheran Church October 6, 1880, and he and his wife have been faithful members of the congregation since that time, and up to date been the oldest couple in the congregation.

Mr. and Mrs. Jacobson have had ten children, Marie, Mrs. Andrew Bamble, Lemmon, S.D., who preceded her mother in death, Gustle, Mrs. Andrew Frsvold, Lemmon, S.D., Jacob now living on the old Paulson farm, tilde, Mrs. Jamie Kasa, living on the old home farm, Pauline, Mrs. Bennie Nelson of Estherville, who also preceded her mother in death, Ludvig who died in infancy, Lydia, Mrs. Hans Fohn-Hanson, Fairbanks, Alaska, Alpha, living with her brother, Edna, Mrs. Arthur Fossum, Estherville and Sessel, living at home.

In the fall of 1922 Mr. and Mrs. Jacobson retired and moved to Estherville where they had built themselves a comfortable home on 9th St. In October, 1929 they celebrated their golden wedding at the church of which they have been members for so many years. At that time they had their grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends who came to held them celebrate the 50th anniversary of their wedding day.

During the past year Mrs. Jacobson's health has been failing, but her family and friends did not realize that her departure was so near at hand. She passed away quietly on Wednesday, March 7th at 3 o'clock in the afternoon. All her brothers and sisters had preceded in death.

Kristi Jacobson leaves to mourn her passing her husband, seven children, seven grandchildren besides a host of relatives and friends.

As was customary in the Jacobson home, Mr. Jacobson read from Laache's Book of Family Prayer for family devotions and the last Scripture that he and his wife shared was the text for the meditation in that book for March 7, Luke 23:17-24

The funeral was held Saturday, March 11, at 1;30 o'clock at the home and at 2:00 o'clock at the Estherville Lutheran church. Rev. Mathre preached the sermon using Luke 2:29-30 as his text, and officiated at the interment in the family plot at the Wallingford cemetery. Rev. S. Strand of Wallingford also spoke at the church.

Pall bearers were Christ Nasby, Paul Paulson, Jacob Nasby, Carl Asher, and Oscar Peterson.

Music for the service was supplied by Ollie Nasby of Jackson, who sang Greig's "Der Store Hvide Flok" and a quartette composed of Magda Center, Dorothy Jeglum, Chris Gronstal and Teo Myhre. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, March 13, 1934)
