Funeral services were conducted over the remains of Ole. T. Paulson, one of the respected pioneers of Emmet county, on Friday, October 17th, [1919] at West Immanuel church at Wallingford. Friends and acquaintances in large numbers were assembled to pay their last respects. Rev. S. A. Berge preached the funeral sermon and Mr. Oscar Refsell and Prof. B. Strand made short addresses. The remains were laid to rest in the family lot in the church cemetery.

Ole T. Paulson was born October 17, 1853 in Hallingdal, Norway. He came to America with his parents while a mere boy, residing two years in Clayton county, Iowa, and then settling in Emmet county in 1863.

Here he shared with his parents in the trials and hardships of pioneer days seeking to rear a home in this then new county. In 1875 he entered Luther college at Decorah, Iowa where he spent three years in study preparing himself for parochial school teaching. He followed this profession a short time, but his life was mainly spent on the farm, on the family homestead south of Estherville, which continued to be his home to the end. Some weeks ago he underwent an operation, and though he seemed to rally for a time he gradually became weakened and passed away October 14, 1919 at the age of 66 years and 7 days.

He leaves to mourn his loss two sisters, Mrs. Lars Jacobson and Miss Anna Paulson; also a foster-child, Thelma Pranke, and many other relatives and friends. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, Iowa, October 22, 1919)
