About Lavinia Malpass

Obituary Notice in the Nanaimo Newspaper (Nanaimo Archives)

Mrs. Lavinia Malpass, wife of the late John Malpass and one of the pioneer settlers of the City, died at Wellington on Sunday night, after a lingering illness, at the advanced age of 64 years. The deceased came from Staffordshire, England, to this city on the Princess Royal in 1854, and therefore ranks among the earliest pioneers, whose numbers are being steadily decreased by the Grim Reaper. The deceased leaves a large number of children and grandchildren, together with a large circle of relations and friends to mourn her removal to the World Beyond. The funeral took place from her late residence, Wellington, yesterday afternoon and was numerously attended. The religious services were conducted b the Rev. Joseph Hall, of the Methodist Church.

The pallbearers were - T. Wall, J. Thompson, M. Miller, Jas, Bevilockway, Alderman G. Baker and J. A. Dixon,
