An active Big Y DNA Gresham Surname Study is underway at FTDNA to sort out these old Virginia lines. The descendants of George and Sarah Dunweddie Lowe Gresham do not match the descendants of George and Betty Watts. The descendants of Lawrence Gresham b. 1753 most closely match those descendants of George and Sarah Dunweddie. This has forced a revision in many online trees.

Note: It is not proven that Lawrence Gresham b. 1753 is a son of Lawrence Gresham of Briar Hill b. Abt 1700 m. Mary Townley. In the book about Walter Quintin Gresham's life, the theory is that he immigrated to the US about 1759 as an indentured person to his uncle.
