"ELKHART LAKE – Mrs. August Holtzmann, nee Louise Raeder, died Sunday, Nov. 30th, at the Plymouth hospital, following an operation.

Mrs. Holtzmann was born Feb. 3, 1871, in the Town of Greenbush, and was married Nov. 28, 1894, and has since lived on a farm 2 miles northwest of here in town Russell.

She leaves her husband and eight children, as follows; Mrs. Ed. Gessert and Mrs. Walter Brickner both of Plymouth, Fred, Lena, Arthur, Hattie, Mathilda and Irma, all at home; also three grandchildren. Two sons preceded her in death. Three brothers who survive are Val. Raeder of Greenbush, Martin of here and John of Sioux Falls, S. Dak., and two sisters, Mrs. Mary Edeler, Mrs. Fred Kaemmer of here and Mrs. William Schroeder of Greenbush.

The funeral took place on Wednesday from St. John’s Evangelical church. Rev. F. W. Zeh officiatied. Burial in the village cemetery. Kiel Tri-County Record – December 4, 1924"
