DAR ~ SAR records 1779 • Virginia Colony Pleasant Martin served in the Revolutionary War as a Lt. in the Virginia Line (Militia), DAR #A074475, SAR#65399, pension #S2729.
One account has him escorting British prisoners, and another has him present at Yorktown, VA during the British surrender end
Lt. Martin enlisted in Capt. Benjamin Harris' company. He received his commission from Governor Thomas Jefferson & he was at the siege at Yorktown. HIs pension was allowed for 7 months, as Lieutenant in the Virginia line.
DAR No. 31 582 Pleasant Martin, (1757-1836), enlisted in Capt. Benjamin Harris's company and served as lieutenant 1779. He received his commission from Gov. Thomas Jefferson. He was at the siege of Yorktown. His pension was allowed for seven months as lieutenant Virginia line.
