What was Lydia's maiden name?? People have speculated "HOOE" because they named their son Howson Hooe DUNCAN. Maybe she was adopted or dropped from a UFO. I've been looking for years and cannot find a definitive answer. The HOOE family ran a ferry in Stafford Co., Va, parent county of Fauquier--so right place at least.

“Was Lydia DUNCAN d. 1797 Fauquier a HOOE?” December 19, 2004
Their second son was Howson Hooe DUNCAN. This implies that Lyddia has to be either the daughter of Col. Rice HOOE 1665-1726 m. Ann HOWSON 1667-1697 or their grandaughter through son Howson HOOE 1697-aft1777 M. Anne Frances HARRIS c 1696-aft1773
Since Lyddia was m 1733 Westmoreland, she must have been born bef 1718
Her husband Joseph Duncan was b. 1710, Ann Howson d. 1697. It isn't likely that Lydia was 13 years older than her husband.
This Ann Howson is the first of that surname found in the Hooe line. So the name Howson Hooe DUNCAN has to have come from her. Lyddia is most likely Ann's grandaughter through son Howson HOOE. Howson's will of 1777 only mentions his sons, but Lyddia may have already received property upon her marriage to Joseph DUNCAN in 1733. Plus Howson HOOE died 1777 King George, while Joseph and Lyddia both died in Fauquier.
