Lydia Seward

36. xi. Lydia, b. 1661p d. Durham, Conn. 24 Aug. 1753,

m. 14 July 1686, Caleb Seward, bro. of Dr. Joseph and John above [husbands of her sisters Judith and Abigail respectively], b. 14 Mar. 1662, d. 1 Aug. 1728.

They settled in Coging Chan (Indian name for Long Swan), now Durham, Conn. where he was the first town clerk, and represented the town in the General Assembly for the first fifteen sessions. He d. in his 65th year.

Abstract of a Durham Record: "To all people ... that we Joseph Seward and Caleb Seward of Durham ... with the concent of our wives Judith ye wife of Joseph ... and Lydia ye wife of Caleb ... for and in consideration of ... a 2/3 part of a 500 acre right of land in Hebron, sd. right being a part of a right ... granted by Joshua, Sachem, son of Uncas, Sachem of the Mohigans, to our honored father, William Bushnell of Saybrook ...," dated 12 June 1710 (R-23).
