GRANGEVILLE Magdalene Merline Tacke, a longtime Cottonwood homemaker, died Wednesday March 31, 1993 at the Grangeville Care Center.
GRANGEVILLE Magdalene Merline Tacke, a longtime Cottonwood homemaker, died of causes related to age Wednesday at the Grangeville Care Center. She was 90.
The daughter of Emile and Dorothy Holthaus Untereiner, she was born July 21, 1902, at Muenster, Texas.
She later moved with her family to Dimock, S.D., where she attended school.
She worked for a short time in the area before marrying E.H. (Jack) Tacke June 7, 1926, at Dimock.
The couple made their home at Cottonwood until 1932, then moved to Grangeville. They returned to Cottonwood in 1941.
She entered the Grangeville Care Center in 1987. He died in 1991.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church at Cottonwood, the Catholic Daughters of America, the Women of St. Mary's, and was a past member of the Sunshine Club.
Survivors include three sons, Mark Tacke of Cottonwood, Tom Tacke of Seattle and Jack Tacke of Arlington, Va.; a daughter, Sister Mary Paule Tacke of Transkei, South Africa; 15 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Two sons, four brothers and four sisters died previously.
A vigil service and rosary recital will be at 7 p.m. tonight at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Cottonwood. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at St. Mary's, with the Rev. Joseph Muha officiating. Burial will follow at the Cottonwood Catholic Cemetery.
