Prior to the war, he married Dorothy Winifred Davison in 1914 and had a daughter Ruth (1915-1952). Major Lupton was reported missing at Miraumont on the night of 19 February, 1917 when he went out with one man on reconnaissance and was later found dead.

Educated at Rugby School from May 1900 to 1904 and at Trinity College, Cambridge where he gained Natural Science Tripos.

Worked in the Leeds University Textile Department for a year and then was a Partner in Wm. Lupton & Co., Woollen Manufacturers at Leeds.

Gazetted to the 8th Bn, W Yorks Regt. in 1905

Prior to the war, he married Dorothy Winifred Davison in 1914 and had a daughter Ruth (1915-1952).

Went to France with the 2/8th Bn, W Yorks Regt. in Jan 1917 Major Francis Ashford Lupton, was KIA at Miramount when he went out with one man on reconnaissance and did not return. His body was later found and buried at Miraumont Cemetary.

Winifred, the eldest daughter of Charles Davison, SC.D. of Birmingham and left one daughter.
