John Day was the son of Thomas Day and Sarah Cooper, the sixth of ten children. He married Mary (known as Marah) Smith on March 10th, 1696/7 in Hadley, Hampshire, Massachusetts. She was the daughter of John Smith and his wife, Mary Partridge.
