• On 28 March 1658, Manuel van Angola and Elisabeth van Angola arrived at Cape from Angola on board the Amersfoort.
• They were among 500 slaves on a Portuguese slaver enroute to Brazil captured by the Amersfoort on 23 January 1658 probably off Angola on the west coast of Africa. The crippled captured vessel was abandoned to her lot with 250 slaves and her crew, while the Amersfoort took on board the remaining 250 slaves for the journey to the Cape.
• Of those, when the Amersfoort heaved to in Table Bay two months later, only 174 had made it alive, most them, according to Jan van Riebeeck "girls and small boys".(see full entry for citations)
• Slave Between 28 March 1658 and 11 April 1658 the recently arrived slaves from Angola were allocated to different officials, and Manuel van Angola and Elisabeth van Angola were likely the male and female slaves assigned to Wouter Mostert as millers and stable boy.
• Slave He was a slave before 1677 at de Caep de Goede Hoop, owned by Wouter Mostert.
• Emancipation Manuel van Angola was emancipated by Hester van Lier, on 16 April 1681 de Caep de Goede Hoop.
