María Elena Bain Larrahona

Aunt Nena is and has always been a special kind of woman. The picture set as her profile picture, was taken in December 64, at my school graduation day and surely shows the way she still is in spite that when I'm writing these words, she's now very sick and probably won't ever read them.

As you may see, she always looked frontwards, to everybody eyes and has an special empathy with every people. She was like, daddy, her brother Harold, and uncle Percy, absolutely inconditional. They were very close to eachother and perhaps that's why they share many and many qualities. She is a warm person who not only takes care and took care of his family but also gave part of her life helping others without making any remark about what she did. She has a great devotion for the values she inherited from her parents and a great sense of what words as honesty, responsability, honour, truth, faith, courage and others like that involve and which have seem to be forgotten each day more when you live in a society that gives more importance to which we both considered anti-values: impermeability towards others needs, indiference for what surrounds us, deshonesty, individualism, unloyalty not only with others but towards the own family, targets centered only in onself not considering others' needs.

She always tries to undertand people going to their depeest motivations to act in a way or another. That's why she suffers a lot when has or had to face actions of people she thought were in a way and resulted in another which meant harming with no need her sensibility and passing away what she loved and respected.She could and possible will never understand all those behaviours that means trepassing others dignity and self respect. She also has a strong sense and love for her roots. If there is a figure representing her, I would draw a centenary oak tree: firm, still, giving shadow and refuge.I give thanks God for having her as my aunt as she is and always has been a straight example about what a christian must be. She also has a great sense of humor, a special devotion for her husband and a strong determination in carrying out her duties no matter how hard they might be.She uses to answer:It's my cross and my duty to carry it on.

There would be no space, no words enough to describe her but I'm sure that here, there or else where, she'll always be the special Nena Bain we had the luck to share.
