A lot of years ago, Dr. Sergio Jarpa Yáñez, being our children's pediatry specialist and besides my Daddy (Harold) and uncle's Percy's friend since they were all school mates at the Sacred Hearts French Priest's school told me he had never met such a good man as uncle Percy was and is. This aseveration only confirmed me what I had seen all over my life, explained to me why Daddy still being my mother's boyfriend when he enlisted at the R.A.F. at his 19th. had left a letter to be given to him and opened if something occurred him during the war. We opened it once Daddy died and it started: To my dearest brother...asking him to take care of our mother..He accomplished with what Daddy had asked him lot of years before and I'm faithful witness that he has looked after and took care specially of our mother ant the three of us with special dedication and love. He has done it before, he still does it now and we know we can ever count with him. But his love has not helped us only but a great number of our generation: my own sisters and some of our cousins and unfortunately, it's so easy to believe that one needs are so big, that even some time is still more easier to forget to give thanks, To him for his love and material help he has given us when needed, not being his obligation, and to our Lord for letting us having the opportunity to count with such an extraordinary man who first looks after and solves others needs, not only his families' but a lot of other poor or lone people he has comforted and helped, and leaves asides his own needs by simply saying he has enough and needs nothing. I even have to check if he has left at least a suit do dress himself. He has stated as he goes no where 'cause he can little walk so, besides the one's he really needs, the rest is to go to those who really lacks. This is the greatest way of freedom man can reach and as our druids ancestors I would say: "I salute or I greet you as a free man". Undoubltly, he is one who really honours our family. His wisdom, his humble and low profile way of living though he got all the prizes presented at his school and University graduations, speaks of a man who looking transparently with his light blue eyes, when I asked about these events I knew by other friends words, smiles sweetly and says....Ohh,.. that's too far ..I even didn't remember much..I really enjoy every time I go to Viña to meet him, which is something we've been doing for years, even in working days we had to be there with my husband, and share our family stories, his sharp comments about people or actuality, his knowledge of human beings and I'm quite sure I've not only to tank him for all of what I've received from him but for all what I still miss to learn from him. As you may see, people at 86 and more, have a lot to show and teach us. It's not only our duty to listen to them but an honour to count with them and a debt we have with our Lord for this mercy towards us.
