2. Bloomfield News (Weekly Newspaper), Volume XXXIII, Number 44, Page 4, Column 2, Thursday, September 16, 1909. "Aged Lady Dead. - Mrs. Marcia EMERY, eighty-four years of age, died last Wednesday at Bedford {Lawrence County, Indiana} at the home of her daughter, Mrs. E. R. DOBBINS. She had been suffering from a carbuncle on her hip for several weeks, but her death was due more especially to old age. The funeral occurred Thursday afternoon. The burial was at Green Hill. Mrs. EMERY was a native of Greene County, and was the only daughter of Peter HILL, who built the first house ever erected in Bloomfield, and afterwards kept hotel there for twenty years. She was the only daughter of a family of twelve children and out lived her eleven brothers. She was for many years a constant and devoted member of the Christian Church, and was held in high esteem by all who knew her. Mrs. EMERY had been a widow for many years, her husband having died in the hospital at St. Louis during the war from wounds received in battle. She is survived by five children, Mrs. E. R. DOBBINS, Mrs. John JAMISON, L. B. EMERY and J. W. EMERY, of Bedford, and Noble EMERY, of Taylor Township."
