It seems like there are some discrepancies in the children listed for Hardy and Margaret in this entry compared to the info in the census. Here's what I find:

1800 census: Duplin, NC. Hardy 26-44, Margaret 16-26, 1 girl 10-15, 1 girl 0-9. Now this is strange since they were married in 1800, and I suspect either both children were Hardy's by a previous marriage, or they were possibly nieces of Hardy or Margaret.

1810 census: Duplin, NC. Hardy 26-44, Margaret 26-44. 1 boy and 1 girl 10-15, 4 boys and 1 girl 0-9.

1820 census: Williamson, TN. Hardy 45+, Margaret 45+. 1 boy 18-25, 1 girl 16-25, 1 boy 16-17, 1 girl and 1 boy 10-15, and 3 boys and 1 girl 0-9.

1840 census: Maury County, TN. Hardy 70-80, female 50-60 (Margaret would have been 65), 1 male 30-40, 1 girl 15-20.

It can also be seen that in 1840 there is no female of Margaret's age listed, but she was still alive at that time. I'm not sure how common it was for census-takers in those days to be "gentlemanly" and credit older females with a younger age than their actual age so they didn't have to ask. :)
