Evidence from the National Records of Scotland
29 September 1669: Extract Registered Marriage Contract between John Kennedy of Knockdaw on the one part and Gilbert Kennedy of Girvanmaines and Margaret Kennedy, his daughter, on the other part by which said Gilbert dispones to said John and Margaret the £10 land of Girvanmains, in bailiary of Carrick and sheriffdom of Ayr, reserving the liferent to Marion Kennedy, Lady Girvanmaines and said John Kennedy of Knockdaw binds himself to infeft said Margaret in his £20 land of Knockdaw and Conrie during her mother's lifetime said Gilbert further dispones to John and Margaret the 9 merk land of Dalwharran and others in the bailiary of Carrick and sheriffdom of Ayr, and the £10 land of Slaedonnald, in parish of Kirkcowan and sheriffdom of Wigtown.
