The Whitcomb Family in America: A Biographical Genealogy with a Chapter on ...By Charlotte Whitcomb. Page 59- 60. GoogleBooks
53 NATHANIEL WHITCOMB,5 (Nathaniel," James,3 Robert, John,-) lived in Hardwick, Mass., where he enlisted for the Crown Point Expedition. He served from September 20 to December 5,1756. He was in Capt. Ebenezer Cox's company in 1762.
He was married June 19, 1755, to Margaret, daughter of James and Mercy (Gibbs) Aiken. He removed to Greenwich, Mass., before 1779.
CHILDREN:
There is some confusion or disagreement on the parentage between the children of Margaret Aikens, if any, and some of the children of Margaret Gibbs. Each woman married a separate Nathaniel Whitcomb, who are not closely related.
Margaret Ingersoll was the daughter of Margaret Gibbs. However, there is some confusion or disagreement by those who claim that she was the daughter of Margaret Aikens who married a different Nathaniel Whitcomb.
