Sir William Dethick of Dethick and Radbourne, Derbys & Mattersey, Notts. (d. 1408/10), was the s. & h. of John Dethick of Dethick & Mattersey (d. bef. 1373).[1]

Sir William Dethick served as MP for Derbyshire in Nov 1384, 1386 and Jan 1397.[1]

Origins

The family of armigers were of Dethick, Derbyshire as early temp. Hen III. During the reign of Edward III (c. 1327-77), Sir Geoffrey or Godfrey Dethick and Robert Dethick, Esq. married two coheiresses of Annesley.

Marriage

It appears he did not marry until 40 or over. By his wife Alice,[1] [--Frankville--?],[2] he had at least 7 sons.[1]

"As the father of a large family, Dethick had to make careful provision for his children; and he was fortunate to secure two of the four daughters and coheirs of Sir Ralph Meynell as brides for his younger sons, John and Reynold."[1]
