A small tribute book remains through descent in the family. It was created in memory of Maria following her death in 1826 and contains dozens of handwritten entries from family and friends conveying their grief and offering their solace to the family.

- Transcribed Letter from Esther Brainard White (1790-1878) to Sarah “Sally” Barber (1773-1837), written probably at Aurora NY, while not dated it must have been written soon after Maria Barber Avery’s death in October 1826. This letter has been kept inside the front cover of a book of verses written by many individuals probably as a remembrance of Maria who died on October 14, 1826. The first entry in this book is by Betsey Ann Barber, Maria's cousin, dated September 15, 1826.
