  • Marie was born in Quebec 4-7-1673, baptized in Notre Dame de Quebec 5-11-1673,
  • Marie's father, Simeon LeRoy "dit Audi" from Creances, bishopric of Coutances in Manche, was a master carpenter who moved to Montreal and then in 1682 to Albany. Her mother, Claude Deschalet , and Claude's two orphaned sisters were "filles du roi", or King's Daughters, some 770 women who arrived in the colony of New France (Canada) between 1663 and 1673, under the financial sponsorship of King Louis XIV of France. Most were single French women and many were orphans. Their transportation to Canada and settlement in the colony were paid for by the King. All of Marie's sibling married Huguenots or Protestant Hollanders. JdK
