Mariote Crawford married Patrick Maxwell of Newark.They were married before 9 January 1498-99, the date upon which she and her husband had a charter for the lands of Auchintiber, the lands of Clowok, and the lands of Easter Kilbride,all of which were part of the barony of Finlawstoun-Maxwell. Evidence from the National Records of Scotland

9 January 1498-99: Charter by which the Steward of Scotland confirms possession to Patrick Maxwell of Newark and Mariote Crawfurd his wife, of the eight merk land of Auchintiber, the four merk land of Clowok, and the forty shilling land of Estir-Kilbride, in the barony of Finlawstoun-Maxwel and sheriffdom of Renfrew. Patrick Maxwell of Newark had previously resigned these lands for a new grant for him and his wife. Patrick and Mariote were to hold in conjunct fee and liferent, and possession was to descend to the heirs male of their bodies, whom failing to Patrick heirs.
