Martha Billington, daughter of Mayflower passenger Francis Billington, was born about 1638 at Plymouth. She was age 5 14 Jan 1642/3 when she was "bound out".

Martha's parents, Francis and Christian Billington, were known as troublemakers in the Plymouth Colony. They had nine children who were all born in Plymouth. The five oldest children were bound out at young ages by a court order. Martha was age 5 when she was "bound out" to Gyles Ricket on 14 Jan 1642/3:

It is ordered and agreed also that Gyles Rickett shall take another of his children a gerle about five years of age and shall shall keepe her and find her meat drink and apparell until she shall accomplish the age of twenty years so she marrie with the consent of the magistrart And shall have xxxs in hand with her towards the apparelling of her payd him wthin a month after she comes to him.

Martha married twice. First, she married 10 Jan 1660/1 at Plymouth, Samuel Eaton, her step brother. He was Elizabeth’s widower with 2 unidentified daughters.

Martha Eaton married 7 Dec 1687 Robert Crossman after the death of Samuel.

After Samuel passed away Martha then married Robert Crossman (abt.1620-bef.1692) Possibly at Taunton after 7 Dec 1687 when they made a marriage contract. The contract gave to Martha Eaton of Bristol, widow, during her life "all the lands I bought of Captain Foster of Dorchester with all buildings... and all goods and chattels during her life, one-half to be at her absoluted disposal at her death. {NEHGR 62:233}

Born about 1621, Robert had also been previously married, to Sarah Kingbury, by whom he had twelve children. Robert died before 27 Oct 1692 (inventory). Martha had brought £3 17 to the estate. She was too aged and infirm to travel to travel, took oath at Taunton 23 Jan 1692/3 and requested that Thomas Leonard administer the oath in Taunton. Robert's estate was divided among his children.

4 Oct 1694, Martha Crossman, daughter of Francis Billington, quitclaimed land her father had given to her, her husband and their daughter Sarah, now wife of Philip Bumpas. Philip Bumpas transferred to Martha Crossman all his estate, personal and real in Plainfield, Connecticut, 9 Jun 1704.

Martha Crossman died between 9 June 1704 (deed in Plainfield, then New London County, Connecticut) and 2 Mar 1722 (her son's deed).
