Sir FRANCIS, the eldest son, was knighted in his father's life-time; was afterwards created a baronet, by letters patent, July 26, 1620; and in the first year of the reign of King Charles I. served in parliament for the county of Surrey. He had three wives; 1. Sarah, daughter of Sir Amias Paulet, Knt. governor of Guernsey and Jersey, and of the privy-council to Queen Elizabeth ; 2, Mary, daughter of Sir Henry Archer of Essex, Knt. and 3, Eleanor, daughter and sole heir of Robert Mallet of Welley, Esq. and widow to Sir Arthur Ackland, Knt. By Sarah, his first wife, he had several sons, who died without issue, and two daughters, Elizabeth, the wife of John Ackland of Devonshire, Esq. and Margaret of Sir Francis Gabell of Cobham, in Surrey, Knt. but of the sons, only Anthony, the youngest, survived his father.
