About Mary Baker
Note: Mary Avery married Benjamin Baker, son of Joshua and Hannah (Tongue-Minter) Baker. He was baptized May 6, 1711 at the First Church of New London. 'Benja. Baker & Mary Avery' were published Sunday, Aug. 3, 1718 (Hempstead's Diary, page 78). Benjamin Baker deeded land that he had of his father, Joshua Baker, to Samuel Avery, April 1, 1719. Abraham Avery was one of the witnesses (New London Deeds, 7:306). Benjamin Baker conveyed his interest in the common lands to John Bolles, Feb. 24. 1742/3. 'being four-tenths part of land allotted to Joshua Baker, the elder, deceased, by the proprietors of New London' (Baker's History of Montville, p. 89).
