Mrs. Fr. Bazil Died At Hospital Sunday Morning
HAD BEEN SERIOUSLY ILL FOR 3 WEEKS; BORN IN CZECHOSLOVAKIA IN 1860
Mrs. Frank Bazil, respected New Prague matron, passed away at the Community Hospital in this city on Sunday morning at three o'clock, following a serious illness of three weeks duration.
Born in Czechoslovakia on March 4th, 1860, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Anton Sticha, Sr., she was brought to America at the age of three months, and the Sticha family settled in Belle Plaine township.
In 1876 she was married, in New Prague, to the late Mathew Kalal, and the couple resided in New Prague. Mr. Kalal passed away in 1888. In 1896 she became the wife of Frank Bazil, the marriage being solemnized in St. Paul.
The Bazils resided on First Street southwest in this city. Mrs. Bazil was an energetic housewife and a beloved mother. She was in ill health for some time prior to her death but her patience and courage remained unbeaten.
Besides her husband, she is survived by her children, Mrs. Mary Sumner of St. Paul, Mrs. Rose L. Johnson of Omaha, Nebraska, Mrs. John Nickolay of New Prague, and Mrs. Lionel Rynda of New Prague and by one step son, George Bazil, of Lakeville, 26 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, August Sticha of New Prague, and Anton Sticha of Clarissa, Minnesota. Four children preceded her in death, Theresa Zak passing away in 1930, Math Kalal in 1925, Joseph Kalal in 1936, and John Kalal in 1940, and two sisters and five brothers are also deceased.
Funeral services were conducted at the Church of St. Wenceslaus on Tuesday morning, at ten o'clock, Very Rev. C. M. Popelka officiating. Pallbearers were three grandsons of the deceased, Charles and George Nickolay and Ralph Rynda, and three nephews, George Sticha, Alois Dvorak and John Borak. Members of St. Ann's Society, St. Theresa’s Society, and the Sacred Heart Society, of which Mrs. Bazil was a member, attended the services in a body. Interment was in the parish cemetery.
Relatives and friends from out-of-town who attended the services included Mrs. Rose Johnson and daughter, Mrs. H. L. Pujat of Omaha, Nebraska, Mrs. Mary Sumner, Mrs. Anna Kalal and Mrs. Francis Zak of St. Paul, Mrs. Agnes Kalal and son, Sgt. Miles Kalal, Mrs. Anna Sticha and daughter, Miss Alice Rynda, and Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Rand and sister, Ruth, of Minneapolis, Mr. and Mrs. George Bazil and Mrs. Angus Dunn of Lakeville, Anton Sticha of Clarissa, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Bazil, Mr. and Mrs. Walt Charles and daughters, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Mladek and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Marek and sons and George Dvorak of Montgomery, and many other relatives and friends from neighboring communities.* Reference: Find A Grave Memorial - SmartCopy: Aug 2 2019, 15:00:27 UTC
