About Mary Lillian Armstrong
Mentioned in husband Matthew's will as "Lily", therefore she outlived him.
Please note that many genealogists have assumed that Lily was Matthew's first wife. However when that is assumed the dates of the children are a complete disaster. The truth is that Matthew married first at Clogher, County Tyrone, in 1722, to Easter Johnston. (Sources attached to their profiles.). Shortly before 1741, the family emigrated to Chester County, PA, where Matthew witnessed a will. They then traveled to Augusta County, Virginia, where Easter died, and Matthew remarried.
Therefore, Lily's only child with Matthew appears to be Elizabeth Russell, b.c. 1742.
Daughter of F. John Beatty 1701 - 1774 and M. Elizabeth Unknown bef 1703 - m. abt. 1720. She married Matthew Armstrong.
