Mary Elizabeth Davidson

Mary is the daughter of Squire John Brevard and his wife Jean McWhorter Brevard. She had 8 brothers, all of whom fought in the Revolution. Her father was a second generation American of French Huguenot descent. Mary was an educated woman which was rare for someone in her day. Apparently she liked to read novels and named one of her daughter's after a heroine of a British novel: Pamela. She also followed some of her children to Kentucky when they moved as adults from bounty land given to them for their father's service in the Revolution. In her will, Mary Davidson Harris(she married again) left her granddaughter, Mary Jane Davidson $100. for her education and her quilts.
