About Mary Drew Reid
MARY DREW REID
is the daughter of William Reid and Mary Drew Registrar General for Scotland, New Register House, Edinburgh, Baptismal Register for Glasgow, reference OPR.644.1/33, frame 3904.
She is probably the same person as the Mary D. Reid, who was a resident of Walworth Town, Walwoth County, Wisconsin, at the time of the Wisconsin State Census of 1895 [Wisconsin, State Census, 1895, index and images, FamilySearch] https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/MM9L-NF7 When the US census of 1900 was enumerated she was resident in the household of Menzo Young and his wife Martha, in Walwoth Town, Walworth County, Wisconsin [United States Census, 1900, index and images, FamilySearch] https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/MM2K-6T5
Mary Drew Reid married Finley Matheson at Geneva Lake, Walworth County, Wisconsin, on 29 June 1850 [Wisconsin, Marriages, 1836-1930, index, FamilySearch] https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/XRL1-VJK but they must have been divorced soon after [See Tim Kemmett's below mentioned comments] for Finley Mathieson married for a second time, to Anna Lighthall, at Walworth on 11 December 1855 [Wisconsin, Marriages, 1836-1930, index, FamilySearch] https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/XRT4-B6X
Mary Drew Reid died at Fontana in Walworth County, Wisconsin, on 25 January 1901. Her father's name is incorrectly recorded as James Reid in her death registration but there seems hardly any reason to doubt that the deceased is the daughter of William Reid and Mary Drew [Wisconsin, Deaths and Burials, 1835-1968, index, FamilySearch] https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/XLMY-H43

Herbert Reid, in his book, "The Reids of Kittochside, Part II," published in 1945 in Glasgow, asserted that "A family of ten [children] were born to William Reid and Mary Drew, eight in Glasgow, before they emigrated."
All ten children are noted on Herbert Reid's "Table T" on page 20.

obituary:
Mary Drew Reid. The death of Mary Drew Reid on Friday morning was a great shock to our community coming as it did without a moment's warning. She had been around as usual the day before and retired at night apparently in her ususal health. On Friday morning she came down stairs and was building the fire when she was stricken with paralysis which caused her death in less than half an hour afterward.
Mary Drew Reid was born in Glasgow, Scotland, July 11, 1826, and came with her parents to this country in her early childhood. Her home since a young girl has been in the house where she died, at the head of Geneva lake. She was well known to everyone for iles around as her life has been spent in this community entirely. She united many years ago with North Walworth Congregational church and was a faithful and consistent member until the church at this place was organized four years ago when she united here because it was her home. Wherever she went she was known as an honest and earnest christian, doing her duty as she saw it and giving generously for church and charitable purposes. In her death the church loses a faithful member and the C. E. and sabbath school, an honest supporter.
The funeral was from the church Sunday afternoon conducted by Rev. M. N. Clark. A large number of her friends were present to pay the last tribute of respect to one who has lived so long and quietly among us. The burial was at the Brick church cemetery beside the remains of her father and mother.
Source a newspaper clipping (see image posted to Geni Jan. 2012), bearing no date, but apparently from a Walworth county newspaper, either from Fontana or a town nearby. Clipping from the collection of Tim Kemmett, and scanned by him 2012.

Tim Kemmett wrote in a message to MRD, Feb. 4, 2012:
I found info that I can not confirm that Mary Drew Reid was divorced. It was hand written in blue ink on a census report I have. The report was a copy and someone wrote it in.
