About Mary Freeman

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Howland-198

Biography

It is factual that Zoeth and Abigail Howland of Duxbury and Dartmouth, Massachusetts had a daughter named Mary, who was born February 23, 1665/6 in Dartmouth.[1][2]

She may or may not have been the same Mary who married Nathaniel Freeman, son of John Freeman and Mercy Prence, of Eastham[3]. This marriage is not confirmed in a formal record. The Freeman genealogy notes that it is a longstanding tradition in both families, and offers the proof that the first name Zoeth appears in the descendants of this couple[4] [5]. It is accepted by the General Society of Mayflower Descendants as factual to some extent, as the Mayflower Families Fifth Generation Descendants note Mary Howland as the mother of each of their children[6]

Their children included[7]:

Abigail, born Feb. 22, 1692-3[7]; who married Capt. Samuel Smith, Oct. 9, 1712 (and named a son Zoeth)[4] [6]
Nathaniel, born Feb. 11, 1693-4[7]; who married Hannah Merrick, April 6, 1721 [4] [6]
John, born June 15, 1695[7] who married Thomison Sears on March 19, 1718-19; and then married Elizabeth Merrick, Oct. 26,1761[4] [6]
Mary, born Oct. 3, 1696[7]; who married Josiah Doane, Oct. 13, 1715[4] [6]
Eleazer, born April 23, 1701[7]; m. Rebecca Young, March 31, 1726[4] [6]
Lydia, born Oct. 14, 1703[7]; who married Elisha Freeman, May 7, 1725[4] [6]
Mary (Howland) Freeman died January 29, 1742/3[7] [4], and was buried in Orleans Cemetery, East Orleans, Barnstable County, Massachusetts[8][9]

Mary Howland was born Feb 23, 1665, the daughter of Zoeth and Abigal Howland of Dartmouth, Massachusetts[10] [11]

These and other sources state there is no clear evidence that she married Nathaniel Freeman, whose wife Mary died in 1743. Unless new evidence is located and recognzed by historians, this profile is therefore not a duplicate for Mary (Howland) Freeman.
