About Mary Jane (Jennie) Everist
MRS. JOHN EVERIST
Mrs. John Everist, 63, passed
away at 6 o'clock last Friday evening
after an illness of two - days. Late
Wednesday night, several hours after
she had retired, Mrs. Everist suffered a
stroke of paralysis from which she
never regained consciousness.
Mary Jane Grimes was born in
Ohio on Oct. 25, 1862, living in her
native state until she reached young
womanhood. She came to Marshall
county, Iowa, about 1884, and three
year s later , on Nov. 1 1887, was
marr ied to John Everist at Di l lon,
Iowa. They lived at Dillon for about
10 years then moved to Clemmons in
the same county, where Mr. Everist
was in business two or three years.
They then moved to Dalton, Iowa, and
a f t e r a s h o r t r e s i d e n c e c ame t o
Randolph 24 years ago.
Mrs. Everist was a splendid
woman; a loving and tender mother and
dut i ful wi fe. She was qui et and
unassuming, doing her duty in a calm
and capable way, and was a good
neighbor and friend. Her many friends
sincerely regret the passing of Mrs.

Deceased leaves her husband
and her son Sherman Everist of Des
Moines, also a stepson 0. Everist of
Clemmons, Iowa. A daughter Grace,
died a number of years ago. She also
leaves eight grandchi ldren. Mr s .
Everist was the last member of her
fami ly. One of her grandchi ldren
Ronald Everist made his home here
from a baby and was as dear to her as
her own child.
