Mary and her twin brother Joshua were on June 1, 1632, in Boston. Joshua died three months later in September 1632. Their mother, the wife of Edward Rainsford, died in June 1632, probably from complications from the birth of the twins. Mary's father, Edward Rainsford, remarried before 1634.

Mary Rainsford married (1) William Bassett II in 1653 in Duxbury, Plymouth County, Massachusetts. He died in 1670. Mary married (2) James Percival of Sandwich. <br/
