Mary Youngs was born about 1632 in England, the daughter of Rev. John Youngs and his second wife Joan Harris. She married Edward Petty, a ship carpenter. She probably. died about 1671, for on May 15 of that year her husband Edward Petty, gave his two youngest children, "James aged about nine years, to Thomas Moore and said Thomas Moore's wife (sister of Rev. John Youngs) to be as their own child," and "his Son Joseph Petty aged about four years to Nathaniel Moore (son of Thomas Moore), he to bring him up as his own child."[1][2]
Edward Petty was recognized as the husband of Mary Youngs, the daughter of Rev. John Youngs, whose widow Mary (Mary Warren Youngs) in her will bequested a sheep to him. (Youngs Family source page 41: "By the will of Mary, widow of Rev. John Youngs, he received one sheep as his full portion. Southold Town Rec, II, p. 19')[3] After 1671 he married Mary, who was living in 1702.
