ROMSHEMrs. Geo. Romshe, a highly respected and esteemed resident ofthis township, and an influential and beloved member of theEnglish Lutheran church in this place, died at her residence onTwo-mile, at noon on Tuesday, after a week's illness. Thefuneral will take place from her late residence at nine o'clockthis morning, and the interment will be at Hog Creek cemetery,near Cridersville. Rev. D. A. Kuhn, of Edinburg, Ind., formerpastor of the English Lutheran church in this place, and Rev. G.M. Grau, will conduct the services.An obituary notice will appear in this paper next week.A card of thanks appeared in The Auglaize Republican on July 30,1885, followed by his wife's obituary below:Obituary in The Auglaize Republican - Thursday, July 30, 1885ROMSHE - At her late residence in this township, on Tuesday,July 21st, 1885, after a short illness, Mrs. Mary Romshe, relictof George Romshe, age 56 years and 11 months.Mrs. Romshe was born in the county Donegall, Ireland, in August,1828. At the age of 12 years she united with the Methodistchurch, of which her brother was a minister. She came to Americain 1849, and became the wife of George Romshe in 1850. Sheunited with the Lutheran church along with her husband.There were born to them ten children, six of whom, five sons andone daughter survive her.Mrs. Romshe had the happiness to see all her children unite withthe church of which she and her husband were members.For some years Mrs. Romshe was in ill health, but had been muchbetter for several months. On July 12th she attended the EnglishLutheran church in Wapakoneta, and participated in the Lord'ssupper. On Tuesday she was taken with inflamation of thestomach, and on Sabbath, July 19th, bid farewell to her familyand became unconscious, and died two days thereafter. For abovethirty years she was a faithful and consistent member of theLutheran church.Her funeral took place at the Lutheran church near Cridersville,on Thursday, July 23d, which was attended by relatives from adistance and by her neighbors. Rev. D. A. Kuhn, of Edinburg,Ind., formerly pastor of the Wapakoneta church, and Rev. G. M.Grau, present pastor, conducted the services. Brother Romshe andhis children have the sympathy of their fellow-members in thechurch. May she rest in peace.Taken from the Portrait and Biographical Record of George Romshewritten in 1898 -The lady to whom our subject was married in 1850 bore the nameof Mary McClintock. She was born in August, 1828, and is adaughter of John and Barbara McClintock, natives of CountyDonegal, Ireland. To Mr. and Mrs. Romshe have been born tenchildren, six of whom are living, namely: John, Justus, Mary,William, Charles and Jacob. Mrs. Romshe departed this life inthe year 1885


Taken from the 1923 History of Auglaize County -ANDREW McCLINTOCK -....... George W. McClintock (brother of Mary and father ofAndrew) died 8/8/1887. He crossed the Atlantic with his parents,the family locating in New Brunswick, where he grew tomanhood.... In 1842, he and his wife came to Ohio and settled inMiami county, where they remained for six years, or until 1848,the year in which Auglaize county was organized, when they cameup here and settled in the timber along Two Mile creek, in thesouthwest quarter of section 32 of Duchouquet township. ThereGeorge W. McClintock put up a log cabin and started in to clearhis land and make a farm out of it......FERNANDO C. ROMSHE -...... Justus Romshe, who is still living there (with Fernando),was born on a farm in the northwest corner of section 6 ofDuchouquet township and is the son of George and Mary(McClintock) Romshe, the latter of whom was a member of thepioneer McClintock family which settled in that neighborhood,there along Two Mile Creek in the early days of the settlementof this region. ........Started the Two Mile Sewing Circle along with Lillie Crawfordand Mollie Ritchie. They met once a month for social relationsand sewing for themselves and others. Slowly added members untilthey had a president, etc and constitution.
