1850 Census taken September 28, 1850 in Logan township - She was 35 and born in IrelandJo Moore Information - During the crossing, Charles (16 yrs age)became sick. His mother went down to steerage to hire someone tonurse him back to health. This person was Mary Jane Steen, froma poor family in county Donegal. Charles and Mary fell in loveand married two years after the ship landed in America. In 1839,after two months of travel via river routes, Charles and Maryarrived on the 27th in Columbus, Ohio. Next they moved toSpringfield, hence to Fletcher, Ohio in Miami county. Theysettled on land 1 1/2 miles NE of Fletcher, for eight years. In1847, they moved five miles NW of Wapakoneta, Ohio, arriving onOctober 16, 1847 and purchased 69 acres. In 1870 they builttheir home. In 1885, they moved into Wapakoneta. Both are buriedin Greenlawn Cemetery, Wapakoneta, Auglaize county, Ohio.Ferd Romshe refered to her as Aunt Mary Jane McClintock onOctober 6, 1902 when they went to her funeral.Obituary in Auglaize Republican on October 9, 1902 -Mary Jane McClintockMary Jane Steen was born in Northern Ireland, in County Donegal,on the 12th day of August, 1815. She came to New Brunswick in1836, where in 1838 she was united in the holy bonds ofmatrimony with Charles McClintock. In 1839 they moved to Ohio,locating in Miami county. From there they came to Auglaizecounty in 1847, and and remained on the same farm for 38 years.Since 1885 they have lived in this city, spending theirdeclining years quietude and peace. They grew old beautifullyand after living together for 64 years the tender that boundthem here as husband and wife was broken. The wife and motherwas suddenly stricken, and on Friday afternoon, October 3, 1902,and at 4 o'clock, the end came. Of nine children, three, Mrs.Nancy Nungheier and Charles, of Lima, and Mrs. Mary ElizabethBrokaw, of Wapakoneta, with 31 grand and 35 great grandchildrenremain with the aged father to mourn their loss. Since February4, 1872, she has been a faithful and consistant member of theFirst Evangelical Lutheran church. Hers was the ornament of ameek anf quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God, of greatprice. The funeral services at the home, on Pearl street, waslargely attended by kindred, neighbors and friends on Monday,October 6, 1902, at 10 a.m., and was in chargeof her pastor, RecJ. H. Culler. The church choir sang several appropriate hymns. Anumber of pretty floral pieces attested the asteem in which shewas held. Mrs. McClintock was indeed, "a mother in Israel" inwhich there was no guila. Her children rise up and call herblessed; her husband also, and presenth her, "The memory of thejust is blessed"
