May (Bonnar) Ryan Sydney Mines May 1, 1944 – Feb. 28, 2013

Peacefully May Ryan passed away with her loving family by her side on Feb. 28, 2013. Born in Sydney Mines, she was the daughter of the late Levi and Rita (Bugden) Bonnar. May was unforgettable and she shared special bonds with so many. She is well known for her singing, great dance moves, playing bingo and cooking for her family. Most of all she enjoyed spending time at the trailer in Dingwall, and travelling to Ontario to visit her family and tending to her flower garden. May was the cherished wife of the late Bernard Ryan; loving mother to Sharen Ryan (Daniel Serroul), Doug (Diane) Ryan, Pat Ryan, and Lisa (Bernard) McReynolds. Nurturing grandmother of Patrick, Linden, Jeannine, Makayla, Ryan, Bernard, Avery and Kirsten. Loving sister of Jean McGean, Irene Donavan, Winston (Margie) Bonnar, Melvin (Carol) Bonnar and Linda McNeil; sister-in-law Gertrude Bonnar. She was predeceased by brothers, James 'Buller' Bonner, Chesley 'Dubby' Bonnar; sisters, Annabelle Ryan, Viola McCarthy and Shirley Salisbury. May enjoyed spending time with all her nieces and nephews and was blessed with many friends. Her special friends, Joyce Thomas, Allister McGean and April Sainthill. Visitation will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Sunday, March 3, 2013. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Monday, March 4, both at Fillmore and Whitman Funeral Home, 10 Clyde Ave., Sydney Mines, Major Kent Hepditch will officiate. Interment at Brookside Cemetery, Sydney Mines, at a later date. Donations in May's memory may be made to Salvation Army or a charity of choice.
