Michiel lived at the loan farm that he took over from his father, called ‘Krommeriver’, situated near Elgin. He was granted freehold of the farm, ‘De Rust’ beside the Rhebok River, Paarl, conditional on the annual payment of 24 Rixdollars. He † 1782.720

Michiel took over his father's farm Kromriver, near Elgin. In 1741 at 18 years old he got himself into trouble when he did not show up when commissioned for an expedition.
