About Mikolaj/Nicoloi August Prince, Sr
Michael Printz - Prince was born in Lippusch, Prussia to Anthony Printz and Magdalena Kynowska/Kinowski. He immigrated to Ontario, Canada in 1858 - one of the first Polish Settlers in the Madawaska Valley. Michael's Sessional Papers - Property was obtained in 1859 - 100 acres - by 1861 he had cleared 1 acre for a home - livestock and crops - 99 acres in forest and wild land. Hardworking - Faithful - Illiterate and Poor. One of the original 60 immigrants along the Opeongo Road. By 1864 Michael had married Marianne Zybert - their first child was born in 1865. Our ancestors were land hungry peasants who immigrated from partitioned Poland and were shaped by the places and space of the Madowaska Valley - the Colonization of 13 settlements that were hacked out of the wilderness. The most prominent - Opeongo Colonization. Michael and Marianne brought 12 children into their union: Marianne - Josephine - Madeline - Johanna - Pauline - Jozef - Martin - John - Michael - Peter - Catharine and Elisabeth.
Emigrated to Canada after age 24.
