Miller E. Hershberger

Miller E. Hershberger, 94, formerly of Birdsboro, passed away January 15, 2012 at 10:45 pm in Susquehanna Valley Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Columbia, PA. He was the husband of Grace Hope (McCaskey) Hershberger.

Born in Mantua, Ohio, he was the son of the late Sylvanus and Ella (Miller) Hershberger. Mr. Hershberger was a member of Grace Bible Fellowship Church, Reading, where he served as Leader of Word of Life Club and was a lifetime Elder at the church. He was a self-employed ­cabinet maker, then was owner/operator of M.E. ­Hershberger Garage Door in Birdsboro and retired from Graco Children’s Products in Elverson as customer service and repairs following 17 years of service. He was a graduate of Walnut Creek High School, Walnut Creek, Ohio and was valedictorian of his class and then attended Reading Bible Insitute.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Sherry L. wife of Douglas L. McFarland of Columbia; 3 grandsons, Bret husband of Dana McFarland, Wade, husband of Angela McFarland and Josh along with 7 great grandchildren. Also surviving is his sister, Evelyn Schlabach of Walnut Creek, Ohio and he was preceded in death by 5 brothers and sisters. Mr. ­Hershberger was also preceded in death by his son, Larry Lee Hershberger, who passed away August 16, 1948.

Graveside services will be held in Forest Hills Memorial Park Friday, January 20, 2012 at 2:30 pm. Rev. Randall R. Grossman officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Child Evangelism Fellowship of Berks County, 1307 Good Street, Reading, PA 19602 in memory of Mr. Miller E. Hershberger.
