Biography ==Minna Effie Aitcheson Runciman <ref>Source: #S2333 RUNCIMAN mailing list resources, (http://www.guernsey.net/~sgibbs/runciman/) pdf file on brothers John and William RUNCIMAN in Sth Africa, written by MrsMary RUNCIMAN, extracted Sep 2005</ref> was Emmeline’s younger sister (she was 27 and a half when she married, and had been just over 8 years old when her future husband married her eldest sister Emmeline. He was very fond of her and after Munty's death, one of the children had to go to the cemetery with their father every Sunday morning, to put flowers on her grave.
She had a daughter, Rita (b. 24.11.1912 Transkei). In 1914 the family returned to Pietermaritzburg from the Transkei. According to Shelagh “Munty” was very pretty with violet coloured eyes and died in the Spanish Flu epidemic that spread to SA in September 1918.
She was very kind and "Bobby" remembered her with deep affection but Shelagh did not have any vivid memories of feeling near to her. Moyra and Michael resentedthe second marriage but Michael, in later years, confessed to feeling sorry that they had been so unfriendly to Munty.
