Mrs. Nancy E. DeWeese, beloved wife of Rev. Carter DeWeese, fell asleep in Jesus, Jan. 1, 1915. Deceased was the daughter of Charles E. and Lydia Powell. She was born in Boone County, Indiana, Dec. 23, 1843. Had she lived three days longer, she and her husband could have celebrated their fifty-fourth wedding anniversary. She was converted and united with the Christian Church in Brown's Wonder, Indiana, Jan. 26, 1862, and for nearly 53 years she lived a consistent Christian life.
Mrs. DeWeese and her husband moved from Indiana to Missouri in 1868 and located near Indian Grove, Chariton County, in which vicinity they continued to live until the time of her decease. She was a charter member of the Indian Grove Christian Church of which her husband has been pastor for about thirty years. She took an active part in Christian work until a few months ago, when she became too ill to leave her home. She was the mother of five children, four of who survive her, and was at her bedside during her illness. Besides her husband, two sons and two daughters, she leave three brothers, four sisters, twenty-four grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and a large circle of friends to mourn her loss.
In accordance with request made by her about two weeks before her decease, her funeral was preached at the Indian Grove Christian Church to a large concourse of relatives and friends, after which her body was interred in the Indian Grove Cemetery. A.J. GOLDEN
