-MINISTER SUCCUMBS WEDNESDAY AT HOME IN BRUNSWICK -FUNERAL SERVICES FRIDAY
The Rev. C.M. DeWeese died last Wednesday at his home in Brunswick. Funeral services were held Friday. The pallbearers, all grandsons, were Marion Arnold Heckman, Lloyd Heckman, Joyce DeWeese, Dale DeWeese, Henry DeWeese Jr., and Ronald DeWeese. Burial was in the Powell Cemetery.
Mr. DeWeese was the son of Carter and Nancy E. DeWeese. He was born June 4, 1870 near Indian Grove. In early life he became a member of the old Indian Grove Christian Church and always was true to the Church. He and Sallie Nicholson were married Dec. 31, 1891. Nine children were born, who all survive. They are Harry, Harvey, Walter, Clyde, Stella, Virgie, Herbert, Beulah, and Ethel. Mr. DeWeese was licensed to preach Sept. 6, 1919 and was ordained Sept. 10, 1920 by Rev. Simms and Rev. Sweet at Pleasant Hill in Grundy County. He served as president of the North Missouri Christian Conference for many years.
